Wings Neck - From Rt. 28A in Bourne, take Barlow's Landing Road to Wing Neck Road.

Woods Hole - From Rt. 28 in Falmouth, take Woods Hole Road.

Cape Cod Canal:

There are great fishing areas on both sides of the canal

Mainland Side - Try along Rt. 6 near the herring run.

Cape Side - Take Sandwich Road off the Bourne Rotary, and look for parking areas on the left side of the road.

Scusset Beach - From the Sagamore Rotary area, take Rte. 3A to Scusset Beach Road.

West Dennis Beach - From Rt. 28 in West Dennis, take School Street to Lighthouse Road.

NANTUCKET

Try the points. Smith, Eel and Great Point are usually hot spots.

The beaches best known in fishing circles are Great Point and Smith's Point.

There are many other excellent Nantucket fishing beaches which don't require an off-road vehicle. Ask at tackle shops for the beach where fish are biting. If you feel that a visit to a faraway point is a must, try a beach guide. If you go on your own, make sure you have a Public Beach Access sticker for vehicles, issued at the Police Department.

Nantucket Harbor

It's always a good place to drop a line.

North Shore Beaches

Dionis Beach - Located on the western side of the north shore, Dionis Beach is much more remote than Jetties Beach.

Western Shore Beaches

Eel Point Beach - This is a very remote beach on the most western end of the North Shore and is also subject to tidal flooding. It is possible to get stranded there if conditions are right. There are no lifeguards or restrooms on this beach.

Smith's Point Beach - It is located at the most western end of the island. It is possible to walk out to the point, but few anglers do. It's more than a mile on soft sand.

Eastern Shore Beaches

Great Point Beach - Great Point is at the very northeast end of Nantucket. To fish there requires a four-wheel drive vehicle; otherwise, the walk over sand is more than four miles from Wauwinet. This beach is very long. There are no lifeguards, and it is part of the Coatue Wildlife Refuge. To access it by four-wheel drive vehicle, you need a special pass, which is $125.00 for the season.

South Shore Beaches

Tom Nevers Beach - Located at the end of Tom Nevers Road

Surfside Beach - Located at the end of Surfside Road. Food, restrooms and lifeguards are at this beach.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD

The Vineyard is known and loved worldwide for fishing. The entire island offers great spots from Gay Head and Lobsterville beaches in the west to Chappaquiddick (Chappy) and Cape Pogue in the east.

All beaches in between offer ample opportunity to catch stripers, blues, bonito and albies from the shore. Sharks and the occasional Spanish mackerel may be found along the coast.

Some of the most popular places are: Lobsterville Beach and the Dogfish Bar close by; Menemsha, north along the beach from the pond opening; Squibnocket; Lambert's Cove; the island's pond entrances; West Chop; Cape Pogue Cut; Wasque Point and Cape Pogue. Don't overlook Katama Beach on the back side (Edgartown) and Tashmoo Beach in Vineyard Haven.
