Pollution Reporting Hotline

Help us to protect Nantucket Sound by reporting pollution or other harmful violations of the Sound right away.

These are your choices:

Action 1.
Call authorities in the town where the situation has occurred.

and/or

Action 2.
Call the Nantucket Soundkeeper Hotline at 508-775-9767 Ext. 21. Describe the situation and its location. We will notify authorities. Leave your name and number confidentially with us so we can let you know what is being done to correct the problem.

and/or

Action 3.
E-mail Report@NantucketSoundkeeper.org to describe the situation and its location. We will follow up with the proper authorities. Again, your report will remain confidential with us. We will respond to you.

• For spills and release of hazardous materials, call 911 to notify local fire and police first responders.
• Then notify the state Department of Environmental Protection's Emergency Response section at 1-888-304-1133.
• For large-scale spills, call the Coast Guard�s National Response Center at 1-800-424-8802.
• For stormwater pollution violations and sewage leaks or discharges see the following chart:

• For problems involving marine animals, such as stranded whales, contact the Cape Cod Stranding Network at (508) 743-9548 or the New England Aquarium Rescue and Rehab Dept. at 1-617-973-5200.
• For entangled whales, call the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies at 1-508-487-3623.
• For problems involving inland wildlife, call the MA Division of Fisheries & Wildlife 1-508-759-3406 or Cape Cod Wildlife Center at 508-362-0111.
• For suspected illegal dumping or other environmental violations, call the MA Environmental Strike Force at 1-888-VIOLATE (846-5283).
